LAGAWE, Ifugao, Sept 12 (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) - Ifugao Chapter received today materials for the construction of houses to replace those that were totally damaged by typhoons Pedring and Quiel which devastated the province last year.
Randy Blanco, PRC chapter head, said that the materials from the the project dubbed as Transitional Shelter Assistance, will be distributed to the following municipalities: Lamut-6; Kiangan-12; Banaue-7 and Lagawe-8.
“The corrugated galvanized iron which will be used for the roof are imported from Malaysia and the posts are fabricated in Laguna,” Blanco said adding that this will ensure quality for the said houses to withstand the effects of typhoons.
Other materials like cement, gravel and sand, plywood, paint and hollow blocks and the like are purchased locally, he said.
With all materials needed to construct new houses available, construction will take 10-15 days, he said.
Blanco said that a model house in each town is currently undergoing construction. (JDP/VDB-PIA CAR Ifugao)
